Carmel Foundation Wednesday Program: Advancing the Science: The Latest in Alzheimer's and Dementia Research

Wednesday, September 10, 2:30pm, Diment Hall, Free, Open to the Public

Alzheimer’s is a global health problem with more than 6 million people living with the disease in the U.S. alone. Tremendous gains have been made in the understanding of the science and basic biology underlying Alzheimer’s and other dementias. These advances are leading to great strides in strategies for prevention, detection, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions. The Alzheimer’s Association is a global leader in research, mobilizing the field to advance the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Presented by Claire Day who has been on staff of the Alzheimer's Association since 2001. She currently serves as the Chief Mission and Program Strategy Officer at the Northern California Northern Nevada Chapter and as such, oversees all care and support operations and research initiatives. Ms. Day is a clinical social worker and received her degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. She has more than twenty years of experience as a family and professional educator in dementia care.
