Join us on Saturday, May 6, 4-6 pm at Colibri Gallery in Morgan Hill to celebrate the opening of San Jose artist Betty Franks’ first solo exhibition, Field of Flowers. Viewers will experience the vibrance and beauty of Betty’s large-scale paintings.

Taking inspiration from hikes in the California mountains and walks within neighborhoods, Betty’s work explores the chaos, balance, and beauty found in nature. Where color, texture, and form create simple yet complex dialogues.

In 2018, on a trip to Croatia, Betty discovered her painting style while picking wildflowers during walks with her mother. What began as a connection to flowers soon became an unending way to communicate her passion through her brushstrokes.

As layers of acrylic paint, pencil markings, and color forms take shape, the viewer is lifted in spirit and introduced to the endless promise of joy and happiness that flowers provide.

Betty Franks was born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in San Jose, California. She is a self-taught abstract artist who started painting when she turned 50. Although it seemed late in life to take up painting, the timing was just right for her. After a long career in customer service management, she was ready to unleash her creative side.
