I Cantori di Carmel presents: MAGNIFICAT - A Baroque Choral Celebration for the Holiday
This holiday season, I Cantori di Carmel invites the Monterey Peninsula to a special celebration with Magnificat, a festive Baroque Christmas concert featuring the works of renowned composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and George Frideric Handel.
Musical highlights include Bach’s Magnificat and Gloria in excelsis Deo, alongside Charpentier’s vibrant Messe de Minuit pour Noël and Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum. The dance-like rhythms and festive melodies of Charpentier's mass will have patrons swaying in their seats, while Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum brings an exuberant touch to this musical celebration. The concert will feature talented soloists from I Cantori’s Vocal Arts Academy, accompanied by the wonderful I Cantori chorus and orchestra made up of local professional instrumentalists as well as players from across the country joining this special program.
This performance kicks off ICDC’s new outreach initiative, developed by Music Director Daniel Henriks, aimed at bringing classical music and educational enrichment to South Monterey County. The free performance is open to all, with a special invitation extended to families, students, and residents of South Monterey County.
Through this inaugural season, I Cantori hopes to build a lasting presence in King City and beyond, making classical music an accessible and cherished part of the local cultural landscape. The concert series is part of a broader effort to offer inspiring music education for people of all ages, including workshops, school presentations, mini-concerts, and lectures. This season marks the beginning of ICDC's long-term commitment to creating an enriching musical experience for South County.
