The Festival of Winds Faculty Concert

The Festival of Winds Faculty Concert
Five extraordinary teaching artists from the country's major orchestras perform magical music for winds!
Please join us for a stirring chamber music performance by the 2023 Festival of Winds' faculty:
Seth Morris (Principal Flute, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra)
Liam Boisset (Professor of Oboe, Princeton University)
Anton Rist (Principal Clarinet, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra)
Harrison Miller (Principal Bassoon, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra)
Rebekah Daley (Principal Horn, North Carolina Symphony)
The Festival of Winds was launched in 2021 to augment summer educational opportunities for gifted young wind players. A collaboration between Elaine Douvas (Principal Oboe, The Metropolitan Opera) and Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley, this year's Festival brings 18 brilliant students and five master teachers together for 11 days of artistic exploration and four breathtaking public performances.
The Festival's concerts, on July 11th, 14th, 17th and 21st at 7:30pm in Hidden Valley's intimate theater, will present some of the most beautiful and interesting works composed for wind instruments, including this concert's program:
Umoja (2001) by Valerie Coleman
Sonata for Wind Quartet No. 4 in F Major by Gioacchino Rossini
Wind Quintet in g minor (1876) by Paul Taffanel
Wind Quintet, Op. 10 (1929) by Pavel Haas
