Each spring people of all ages and fitness levels join Big Sur Land Trust’s Race for Open Space – our largest annual fundraising event – to support healthy lands, healthy people, and healthy communities. This year's Race for Open Space will be on Saturday, May 9 on and around Palo Corona Regional Park’s backcountry with five courses: 1mi, 5k, 12k, 25k, and 35k+.

Are you holding onto boxes of sensitive documents? Not sure what to do with the shredded paper you've accumulated? (Shredded paper is not accepted in the curbside recycling bin.) Dispose of your confidential documents at our free Paper Shred Event on Saturday, May 9th from 9 am - 1 pm, at the City Hall Parking Lot (corner of Chestnut and Church St).
A maximum of 3 standard-size banker boxes (10″x 12″x 15″) per household for City of Santa Cruz residents only. Paper will be shredded in front of you and then responsibly recycled at a Steri-Cycle facility.
The event lasts until 1 p.m. or until the truck is full, whichever comes first. We hope to see you there!

The event is free and open to the public. Meetings are held from 2:00pm to 4:00m on the First Saturday of the Month (except during Months with Social Events) at the Community Church of Carmel Valley. Monthly meetings feature Informative Speakers and an Opportunity to win Orchids, Food and Fun.
The Society also has a Picnic, Excursion and Holiday Dinner as well as sponsoring an Orchid Market in the Fall.
