Firefighters are responding to a wildfire in southern Monterey County, just north of the San Luis Obispo County line. The fire is burning near Indian Valley and Vineyard Canyon.

The fire is currently 330 acres. Josh Silveira, a batallion chief with Cal Fire, said the fire's forward progress has slowed significantly, but there is still no containment. Conditions are improving as winds subside, he said.

"We have a very quick turnaround time for our air resources ... it's about a two minute flight from the base to be back over the incident," he said. "That's been a tremendous help."

The Monterey County Sheriff's office has issued an evacuation order for residents in the area. Roughly 25 homes have been evacuated so far, according to Monterey County officials.

We will continue to update as more information becomes available.
