Weather Alerts Underway Across Monterey Bay Area

Dylan Music
The National Weather Service has issued multiple weather alerts for the Central Coast.

10/25/19 11:30AM:  Several weather alerts are underway across the Monterey Bay area as a fire burns in neighboring San Mateo County.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory across the Monterey Bay and Big Sur coastline as well as Carmel Valley and northern Salinas Valley. This Heat Advisory will last through 7 tonight.

Temperatures will range from the upper 80s to mid 90s, which is about 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.

A Wind Advisory and a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for the Santa Cruz Mountains and the northern Santa Cruz Coast beginning early Sunday morning. That’s expected to last through Monday morning. Gusts between 15-30mph and occasionally up to 45mph are expected.

A fire is burning north of Ano Nuevo State Park, near Highway 1 and Gazos Creek Road. Called the Cabrillo Fire, it has burned 95 acres and is over 50 percent contained.

PG&E is monitoring this weather on the Central Coast for a potential weekend Public Safety Power Shutoff.
