WHAT IS THE OCEAN ARTS FESTIVAL?

The 4th Annual Ocean Arts Festival is a day-long event celebrating the power of creativity to heighten awareness of our ocean. It is a family-friendly gathering featuring ocean-themed visual and performing arts created by young artists. It also features information tables led by science organizations. to gather together and to raise our shared voices for the health of our ocean and our planet.

The Ocean Arts Festival celebrates the power of the arts to teach, inspire, and generate positive change in the world. The Ocean Arts Festival sparks original thought, conversation, and action, and stimulates participants to become aware of their social and environmental impact through artistic expression.

SCHEDULE IN PROCESS FORTHE 4TH ANNUAL OCEAN ARTS FESTIVAL?
a journey of ocean- themed art and science experiences
• See ocean-themed visual and performing art created by over 200 young artists
• Learn about local ocean science organizations through information tables and participate in ocean-themed art activities for all ages. (Pacific Grove Natural History Museum, Arts Council for Monterey County, Western Flyer, Hopkins Marine Laboratory)
• Enjoy ocean-themed face painting by Lisa Ledin
• Hear recorded keynote remarks by George Matsumoto, Education Specialist from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute
• Video of renowned ocean advocates: Dr. John Holdren (Harvard University) and Julie Packard (Monterey Bay Aquarium)
• Enjoy excerpts from SpectorDance Company’s Ocean Trilogy and Spoken Word by Monterey Poet-Laurette Garland Thompson and an ocean-themed Sing-a long with Monterey Peninsula Voices
• Experience an Out of the Blue creative movement workshop about ocean diversity for young dancers with Amy Byington
• The Best Ever Taco Truck by Arcelia and Oscar
• Free Admission to the Monterey Museum of Art
